Prayer gently lifts me

prayer gently lifts me

Sometimes it in the simplicity that convey the true feelings of our heart.

Prayer gently lifts me to highest Heaven.
From earth’s confusion to Jesus’ breast;
My sin and weakness, my doubt and sorrow,
Are lost forever in sweetest rest.

In this current season I begin my prayer time with the Lord whispering this chorus I learnt many years ago. As I seek His face and presence my heart travails in confidence that I will meet with God. To take moments at the beginning of each day to grasp the majesty of God, His unfailing love, His faithfulness, to exalt God above all else, is for me in many ways too much for me to comprehend, yet, He welcomes me into His throne room as a child of the living Lord. It allows me precious moments with God, a time to be treasured.

For me these moments serve as the connection points of three important promises for myself in relation to the kingdom of God.

‘[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly]’ Philippians 3:10 AMPC

For me it is to simply know Him better and enjoy His presence.

‘But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I am the Lord, who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.’ Jeremiah9:24 AMPC

I want my life to reflect more the deeply personal moments I have spent with the Lord and I want to say to others: “Oh, you have no idea that my Father has done for me”

The call to proclaim Him quickly moves my time of prayer from what could become an unhealthy inward focus, to one that shows the love of Christ in Jerusalem, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Kingdom praying focuses me on the things that are on heart of Jesus – advancing the kingdom of God, something that resonates close to my heart to see the kingdom of God advance to the people of all nations.

‘My ambition has always been to proclaim the Good News in places where Christ has not been heard of, so as not to build on a foundation laid by someone else’ Romans 15:20 GNT

As I get to know Him better I hear Him say “I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:29-30 MSG

It is a time to bring all the glory to God
