‘Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust Him along the way, you will find He pulled it off perfectly’ – Psalm 37:5 (The Passion Translation)
Presumably you’ve abandoned your New Year resolutions by now, unless you’re truly wise, in which case, you, like me, never made any to begin with.
I decided not to jot down anything. Leading up to the New Year the Lord had challenged me to consider the one thing I would risk everything for and want to do more than anything else for the Lord that will build God’s dream in my heart?
Now this was not new consideration, and I have written about it in previous blogs, but there was a new sense of urgency for this season in His challenge this time. For me the answer has always been the same – the passionate pursuit of God.
Our pursuit of God reveals our passion for God – or the lack of it. God deserves our relentless pursuit. Daily, continual prayer keeps our lives united with God, so we must never allow anything to interrupt this prayer connection. The fire that is our relationship with God must be fuelled daily and kept roaring so that no matter what obstacles we face in life, God’s love will propel us forward.
As I have spent time with the Lord I kept hearing the Lord saying “PERSONAL, PRIVATE PRAYER CHANGES LIVES.”
I had a vision where I saw people struggling with life and all that it threw at them and yet, at the same time they did not grasp the depth of relationship that was available in pushing closer and closer into God. As I watched the Lord whispered, “People have struggled or did not want to get personal with me.”
It sensed it was tearing at His heart. He continued.
“They love me, they speak to me, they pray beautifully, but they did not have that one on one personal precious relationship where they would trust Me in all things. They have not allowed their relationship with Me to build depth into their own heart and soul that will impact their very being.”
The Lord’s words then shocked and humbled me. “You’ve found Me in the prayer room (the secret place). The Body of Christ knows not of this secret place. My Body is conformed to and in love with this world. I am a jealous God. I will not share My glory with another. Even as in My day they turned My Father’s house into a den of thieves, I will not have My secret place defiled by other gods. This secret place is reserved for My remnant – a people who will seek Me wholeheartedly, unselfishly, devotedly and passionately.”
“It is a lonely place for Me. Very few visit Me here. Very few want Me, just My blessings and a life of ease. So few are willing to lose their lives to find them; to find Me – in the prayer room.”
As I wrote these words down, in my spirit I saw a well known and loved Scripture:
‘Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and He will provide for you what you desire the most’ – Psalm 37:4 (The Passion Translation).
For each one of us to grasp the depth and importance of personal, private prayer, we need the daily discipline of meeting with God that will change them through the power and presence of Almighty God.
Late in 2017 I wrote [in my prayer journal] that 2018 will be a year of movement of the plans the Lord has revealed to you in recent years and they will actually come into fruition providing a way forward. Many have felt like 2017 was a year where there was a battle and waiting.
I feel that the Lord wants to encourage many that God will awaken you to a depth of love relationship beyond anything you’re known. He wants individuals of all ages and levels of faith to become closer to God through personal, private prayer. God wants to take each one of us deeper still – deeper than we have ever been before. He is inviting you deeper for His purpose. He has great plans to use you in the coming days.
Maybe God is preparing you for an uncommon journey of personal, private prayer. A journey filled with a passion for becoming closer to God. It isn’t something to be afraid of, but something to be expectant about, because your personal, private prayer life will never be the same.
Pray with others, pray with the family, but, above all, take time for personal, private prayer, for it is the very lifeblood of your soul.
You are going to be amazed!
